2006 Billboard Music Awards

The 2006 Billboard Music Awards took over Sin City and it seems like Mary J Blige took over the Award show. The R & B singer came out on top yesterday taking home nine trophies for her chart topping album “The Breakthrough”. 'American Idol' hottie Carrie Underwood took home five awards including Album of the Year for 'Some Hearts' and Female Billboard 200 Album Artist of the Year. What’s great about this young humble singer is that she didn’t forget where she came from, she thanked American Idol for making her who she is today. Kudos to that! Other winners of the night included Rhianna, Nickelback, the Fray, Chris Brown, T.I.

Now on to the performers… Janet Jackson opened the show sporting a short bob and gave homage to her old and new music. If you missed her performance no worries we got the act for you. While our favorite rocker Gwen Stefani performed her new hit single 'Wind It Up'. Fergie did a great performance with the Black Eyed Peas as she belted her hit 'Fergalicious.' Other performances included Ludacris, and Young Jeezy and Pharrell collaborated on stage.
