Award season is almost upon us, and that means the celebrities will be coming out in droves. The 69th Golden Globe Awards will be presented January 15, 2012 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, per tradition.
And speaking of tradition, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association has just named the 2012 Miss Golden Globe. The honor goes to Rainey Qualley, the stunning daughter of actress Andie MacDowell.
Hollyscoop talked to the honoree, and she told us all about what it means to be Miss Golden Globe.
“I’m very excited,” Qualley told us. “This is the 69th year they have had the awards, and I know it is a longstanding tradition to have Miss Golden Globe [be] the daughter of a celebrity."
The announcement was made by Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Dr Aida Takla-O’Reilly on Thursday night.
“We are delighted that this year’s Miss Golden Globe is Rainey,” Takla-O’Reilly said in a statement. “She is a talented and beautiful young woman. We’re excited to have her as part of this year’s show.
The honoree's duties are to assist the Hollywood Foreign Press in putting on the Golden Globe Awards show.
"I was a little shocked,” Qualley admitted to us. “Just really excited, happy, and looking forward to the experience."
We asked Rainey how she found out about the honor.
“I really wasn't involved in that at all,” Qualley explained. “They just called me. I didn't even know I was being considered actually."
And it turned out to be quite the honor.
“There have been such great girls who have done it before,” Qualley told Hollyscoop. “So I'm in good company. And the Hollywood Foreign Press is such a great association so it's going to be fun I think."
Past Mr. and Miss Golden Globes include: Rumer Willis, daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore; Lily Costner, daughter of Kevin Costner; and Lisabeth Shatner, daughter of William Shatner.
