Avengers

Well, we know what a lot of you did this weekend...

Marvel’s The Avengers stomped into theaters on Friday, smashing all sorts of weekend records. If you were one of the many who bought a ticket, you contributed to setting a record for the film as best debuting film in the US... ever!

Walt Disney Studios announced today that Avengers has made a dense $200.3 million in the domestic box offices so far. That’s approximately $66.8 million a day (over $46,000 a minute) during May 4-6.
Get used to seeing him green!

The rookie Avenger has just signed his face (and the rest of his body) away for six more films to appear as the “The Hulk.”

Mark Ruffalo is apparently already turning heads with his role as Bruce Banner and his green alter ego in the highly anticipated summer blockbuster The Avengers. The The Kids Are Alright actor has just signed on for six more films in the Marvel series.

Two questions come to mind: “Why would Mark Ruffalo want to make six more Hulk films?” and “Why would anyone want to make six more Hulk films?”

While we wait for the premiere of Marvel’s new action packed super hero flick, “The Avengers,” the film is teasing us with sneak peek looks at various images from the new movie.

The film brings together Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow, Hawkeye and the Incredible Hulk who answer the call of Nick Fury and join together with the international super agency S.H.I.E.L.D. to form, The Avengers, an elite group of super humans and super heroes.
Eva Longoria may be taking a break from Wisteria Lane to play with the big boys. According to Fox News, Eva is in talks with studio Marvel about starring in the second Avengers film as The Wasp.

“Marvel is in negotiations with Eva and she is just right for the role,” a source said. First, she read for the part, then she went into the studio for camera tests. The team liked her for The Wasp so much that she did green screen work in the late spring. She’s perfect in size and attitude.

And Eva fits the description perfectly. The source added, “Eva is cute, sexy and full of energy for the part. The character is a bit like Gabby, her character on Desperate Housewives.”

Eva will be a busy bee this fall as shooting for her scenes will most likely begin in the next few months. “The movie is going to start filming this fall. There’s a lot going on, and scheduling all these busy actors is a task, but so far it seems like everyone’s schedule is coming together,” the insider said.

“Right now, Captain America: The First Avenger, starring Chris Evans, is shooting in England and it will pretty much be back to back films.”

Jeremy Renner has been in the movie business for years, but after starring in the Hurt Locker, he’s become a hot commodity.

Rumor has it that Renner is in final negotiations to join, "The Avengers."

Renner will play the bow-and-arrow-carrying superhero Hawkeye, who became an integral member after the misguided villain switched sides.

Robert Downey Signs On For Avengers Movie

The Avengers already has an all-star cast including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man/Tony Stark, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as War Machine.

As we reported earlier this week, Jeremy has also signed on for Paul Thomas Anderson's untitled drama starring opposite Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Reese Witherspoon is also in talks to sign on to the Scientology flick.

The comic book movie is due for release in 2012.
Robert Downey Jr. has officially signed on for The Avengers, and Jon Favreau will be executive producing it. The plot, according to imdb.com, goes as follows: When Captain America is awakened from an icey prison, and some of the greatest evils earth has seen are born, the Avengers go into action. Captain America, Iron-Man, Hulk, Wasp, Ant-Man and Thor. Will they be able to stop the likes of Loki and the Masters of Evil?

Robert Downey will be playing Iron Man of course, and Don Cheadle has signed on to play Col. James Rhodes, previously played by Terrance Howard in the first Iron Man movie. That means Cheadle will be playing Terrance’s character in two movies! He must be so pissed the role was taken away from him!

President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige thinks it’s a great choice, saying, "We are very excited about working with the extraordinarily talented Don Cheadle as we expand the role of Rhodey in Iron Man 2. It has already become apparent as we prep the movie for production, that the dynamic between Robert and Don will take Iron Man 2 to new heights.
