When you’re the highest paid sitcom star on television, riding on a regular airplane is so, ugh, pedestrian. Not even renting out the entire first class is good enough for some celebrities, so that’s why Ashton Kutcher is flying suborbital on Virgin Galactic.
Ashton Kutcher is going to be the 500th “astronaut customer” on the Virgin Galactic outer space flight.
Virgin CEO Richard Branson announced on his blog, “I gave Ashton a quick call to congratulate and welcome him. He is as thrilled as we are at the prospect of being among the first to cross the final frontier (and back!) with us and to experience the magic of space for himself.”
This outer-space flight costs $200,000 and is mostly just rich-people flying into space, but other celebrities who already purchased tickets are Russell Brand and Katy Perry, though I doubt they will be using their tickets together anymore. Awwww.
“Ashton is joining a fast expanding group of true pioneers who are on their way to a life changing experience and a place in the history books,” says Branson, “It’s great to have him on board.”
No idea when Ashton will blast off into space, but apparently the first outer space flight was supposed to be 2008, and according to one of the first ticketed passengers, “Every year for the last six years they’ve been saying ‘next year.’”
Well, whenever Ashton rockets off into space, we’ll know, because he’ll probably tweet about it.
