Ashton Kutcher has a brand new movie out called Spread, about a guy named Nikki who is such a player that he’s slept his way to a life of privilege. He lives in a gorgeous home of a middle-aged female attorney, but beds as many women as he possibly can on the side. Everything is going according to plan, until he meets a waitress named Heather (Margarita Levieva), who is playing the same life game he is.
The two find themselves eating at fine restaurants and crashing posh parties, until the truth of their lives forces them to choose between love and money.
Hollyscoop caught up with Ashton Kutcher and Margarita Levieva on the red carpet of the Hollywood premiere of Spread to find out just why we need to see this movie!
Margarita told Hollyscoop, “It’s amazing and a lot of fun. I think it’s very real, which is not something you get to see a lot. I went over the script and I knew I had to do it because you know the ending of the film is brutal, but very real and it’s not something people choose to show in the film.”
Ashton told us, “I think it’s a tale about a guy whose choosing between love and lifestyle. I think that at some point in time, in all of our lives, we often make choices like that, and you go, alright is it time to go for that now, and give up the lifestyle, or am I really comfortable here where I am? This is a movie about a guy who makes a choice that..you know..sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Ultimately, what he realizes is that lifestyle is hollow without love. I think that’s a valuable tale.”
Ashton definitely knows a thing or two about choosing your lifestyle! He was considered a Hollywood player before meeting the love of his life Demi Moore! Now he’s not only a husband, but father to her children!
Ashton talked to Hollyscoop about what he thinks is the easiest way to lose a girl. He told us, “I would say to not respect her. I sort of think that men are lucky to live in a world with women. The minute that you stop appreciating that as men, then you’ll do something crazy eventually and you’ll be reprimanded, not by a woman, not by a woman most likely, but by somebody else who is controlling who gets reprimanded and who doesn’t.”
As for the film itself, it’s obvious Ashton was passionate about getting it made. He said, “It was a blast to do…..we went out and got financing, found a great director, a great cinematographer making it as an actor was a plus to me in a way because I’m playing in a role that I’ve never really played before and that I don’t really get a lot of opportunities to play. So sometimes in life you don’t get a lot of opportunities you have to go make it for yourself. We were able to do that.”
The movie really does look great. And it’ll make you think twice! Check out the trailer below. Spread opens in theaters August 14th.
