Ashlee Simpson Joining Melrose Place

Ashlee Simpson is going back to her roots. The new mom is going to be a resident at Melrose Place.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Simpson-Wentz "will play Melrose Place's newest resident, Violet, a bright-eyed but shrewd small-town girl and recent L.A. transplant who has come to town with a secret."

Simpson made her acting debut on the CW's 7th Heaven seven years ago.

She eventually took a 4 year hiatus from acting to concentrate on her singing career, but it looks like the acting bug bite her post baby. Do you guys think Ashlee is better off as an actress rather than a singer?
