She's asking for primary custody of their two-year son Bronx, as well as spousal and child support. She even hired hotspot divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, which means she's going to clean his ass out.
They released a statement saying, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”
So what went wrong? One source claims Pete's "erratic" behavior apparently pushed Ashlee over the edge. But another source claims they simply grew apart.
Pete spent a week without Ashlee and Bronx in the Dominican Republic last month and spent last weekend in Dallas for the Superbowl.
Another possible reason is that Ashlee pretty much gave up her "career" (whatever it was) to be a stay at home Mom and Pete is all about his music.
Just a few weeks ago he said, "The great thing right now is that my family is very mobile and are able to tour with me. And I think that's the only thing that would've been a hurdle. But the fact they're kind of able to go, I want to be back out there." He went on to say, "And it's really cool to be able to see the world and to do it on a record company's dime, so I'd like to kind of do that and I'd like to show my son the world as well."
Ashlee hasn't had a paid gig since Melrose Place, which was a big flop, and with no prenup in place, it looks like Pete's going to have to put in overtime to pay for the pricey divorce.
