The Los Angeles underground rock scene is one of the most famous night club scenes in the world. With legendary night clubs such as The Whisky A-Go-Go, The Roxy, The Key Club, and the Viper Room, it is literally impossible to keep up with all the talented bands performing for a shot at a record deal.

It was on July 20th when I made a night of it by stopping by the Whisky A-Go-Go to see a local band called Motif. I was so impressed with their music, they had to be a Hollyscoop Artist of the Week.

Since it was their first show, in all honesty I wasn’t expecting much, but to my surprise these group of youngsters blew my mind away with their rock beats mixed with middle eastern rhythms.

Motif is comprised of Vocalist Garen Kazanc, Guitarist Armen Minassian, Bassist Harout Dermendjian and Drummer David Saakyan. When I got to the Whisky, there was a long line of devoted Motif fans, which literally amazed me. As the band took center stage, they began with an intro which got the hearts pumping of everyone in the crowd. Soon, they began they’re set with such songs as “The Intro”, “Can you hear us?” “Towers” and “The Spaniard”. The last song of the evening was “Porn Collection”. I didn’t know the song that I was about to hear was actually the most popular song of the evening. The lyrics humorous were basic and the crowd sang along to every single word and soon I was caught in the middle of a “Mosh Pit". I have to admit, I had not seen such talented youngsters moving the audience with such great music. If you ever get a chance check out their music on their Official Myspace page.If you are in the Los Angeles are, check out Motif playing this Friday September 29 at the World famous WHISKY A GO-GO (8901 Sunset Boulevard West Hollywood, CA 90069 ). Just remember you heard Motif here first on Hollyscoop’s Artist of the Week.
