Artist Of The Week: Hollie
Every week, Hollyscoop gets mass amounts of emails sent in for our special “Artist Of The Week” section. This week’s artist is a California native who is aspiring to be on top with all the pop divas out there. Her name is Hollie and this singer/songwriter has an ever-lasting star appeal along with her come-hither voice, clever lyrics and catchy melodies. Hollie’s voice encompasses a strong sense of self, while her lyrics represent her straightforward, hard working, no nonsense real attitude.
Although a native of California, her Irish heritage shines through. Hollies mother was born in Northern Ireland, and her father was born in North Carolina. With her natural born talent, throughout primary school and high school, Hollie was involved in a variety of musical productions. She was chosen as a solo female vocal performer of her high schools gospel choir. While attending college, Hollie studies Music and Liberal Studies and has become a part of the Chamber & Jazz Choir at a Southern California college. This September of 2005, Hollie was chosen to sing the title song "Roll Bounce" for the Fox Searchlight Film, "Roll Bounce" starring Bow Wow and Nick Cannon. She was also a finalist in a demo singing competition put on by LAs own Ryan Seacrest of 102.7 KIIS FM. Hollie continues to be the opening female act for many charity benefits and industry events. In July of 2004, she was a guest performer at the South Bay Music Awards and was nominated for best R&B Artist of the Year. This year, the South Bay Music Awards nominates her again for not only R&B Artist of the Year, but also for Female Vocalist of the Year. Bailey (Producer/Songwriter for Motown/Berry Gordy), M. Garner (MTVs Stankervision, UPNs America's Next Top Model, & Bravos -Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), accredited multi-platinum producer, J. R.
