Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver’s Son Hospitalized
Christopher Schwarzenegger, the thirteen year-old son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been in the hospital following a serious surfing accident.

TMZ reports that Christopher suffered multiple broken bones and a collapsed lung after he was surfing in Malibu over the weekend. After being in ICU for the past few days, his condition has been upgraded and he will be OK.

At this point, I think it’s safe to say 2011 pretty much sucks for this family. As if a cheating scandal and now rocky divorce wasn't enough, their son gets into a freak surfing accident, of all things. Especially for Maria, the family has had a damn rough time lately. Here’s hoping they bounce back soon.

Sources tell TMZ Maria has constantly been at her son’s side while in the hospital, and Arnold has been regularly visiting as well. Sources say the family has put the divorce issues aside and united to deal with Christopher’s accident.

Reports surfaced yesterday that Arnold’s lawyers are denying Maria spousal support. But the couple is expected to reach a confidential settlement out-of-court. With no prenup, California law states that the couple must split their assets 50/50. At $400 million, this might be one of Hollywood’s most expensive affairs. Worth it? I don’t think so.

UPDATE: Arnold and Maria just released a statement about their son to TMZ. Here's what they had to say:

"A few days ago our son Christopher suffered an accident at the beach. While it has been a very scary week, Christopher is surrounded by his family and friends. He is a brave boy and is expected to make a full recovery."
