Beckham Wants to Increase Tourism in California

We have one of the hottest British imports living in California so our Governor is going to take advantage of that.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has asked David Beckham to appear in a ad campaign promoting California.

In the commercial, Becks will be kicking soccer balls into the sea.

The new ad campaign is for the California Travel & Tourism Commission and will launch in the U.S., Canada and Britain later this month.

The commercial also features Rob Lowe and Vanessa Williams.

California High Court Upholds a Ban on Gay Marriages

The California Supreme Court today upheld Proposition 8's ban on same-sex marriage, but also ruled that the 18,000 gay couples that wed before the November election will continue to be married under state law.

Crowds gathered outside the California Supreme Court in San Francisco today to hear the decision, which was sure to be controversial no matter which way it swayed. Proposition 8 passed with 52% of the vote during the November 2008 elections.

He was rumored to have an appearance in the upcoming Terminator Salvation, but he doesn't want his fan getting carried away with the role he has in the film.

Schwarzenegger Gets Sued

The "Ahnold" has run into a little financial trouble. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has just been sued by two different unions who are fighting against an order that would require all California state employees to take two days off a month without getting paid.

The order by Arnold is an attempt to solve California's budget crisis, but the union workers are pissed that it has to come at their expense. It would affect around 230,000 workers. Doesn't seem fair at all, but...
Arnold Wants Prop 8 Overturned

California's Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging the Supreme Court to overturn Prop 8, the bill that banned gay marriages last week.

In an interview on CNN he said, "It's unfortunate, obviously, but it's not the end. I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area."

During a time of economic crisis, it's great to know that some people are using their celebrity status to help others. Hollyscoop was onsite at the Beverly Hilton hotel for the "Building A Greater Los Angeles Gala" to benefit the Habitat for Humanity organization. Celebrity volunteers and supporters walked the green carpet to help raise awareness for this great cause.

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 and has built over 250,000 homes, housing more than one million people worldwide.

Arnold Vetoes Kanye's Bill

Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill that was written shortly after the death of Kanye West's mother Donda after she went in for a routine cosmetic surgery.

The cosmetic surgery bill, AB 2968, by Assemblywoman Wilmer Amina Carter, would make it a requirement for people to undergo a physical examination, give a complete medical history, and also get a doctor's clearance before getting any plastic surgery done. That's exactly what didn't happen in Donda's case.
