It doesn't get much more glamorous than the Cannes Film Festival. And the stars are already strolling into the French Riviera, preparing for the 64th annual screenings.

Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas, who both star in the Shrek prequel Puss in Boots have already taken over the red carpet for the big premiere. Robert De Niro will serve as President of the Jury this year.

Antonio Banderas To Play Salvador Dali

Antonio Banderas is set to play Salvador Dali in a new biopic of the Spanish artist. Director Simon West says he wants to capture Dali’s “inventiveness and color.”

The Daily Variety reports that Banderas is in "final negotiations" to play his compatriot, who died in 1989 at the age of 85.

The project, due to begin shooting in early 2009, is one of three Dali biopics in the works. Al Pacino will play him in Dali & I: The Surrealist Story, and Rob Pattinson will star in Little Ashes.
