Rise, all you comic book geeks, dweebs, and castaways… Rise up from you parents’ basements. The time has come to show your fandom.
Batman week has arrived at last. To celebrate this epic event in summer movie awesomeness, The Dark Knight Rises premiered in New York City Monday night. The stars of the film arrived in their finest to flaunt their time in the spotlight.
Showing up were Batman rookies Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Standing beside them, loud and proud were their veteran co-stars Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and the man of the hour himself, Christian Bale.
Bale wore his Oscar attire (subliminal message, anyone?), rocking a tailored black tux and a little scruff for facial hair. Freeman matched, going for a truly Dark Knight look with a black shirt and bowtie.
Playing hipster was the carpet’s youngster Gordon-Levitt with a grey suit and red tie.
Hathaway and co-star Marion Cotillard were the swans on the carpet filled with dark garb. Hathaway wore a white, summery, chic dress that showed off some cleavage. Cotillard went the opposite direction, looking like a ballerina in a tutu.
Also representing the film on the carpet was powerhouse director Christopher Nolan, seeming calm and confident in his big moment.
So far this summer, we’ve seen The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man dominate the box office. Still, nothing can compare to hype for the final installment of The Dark Knight franchise, which truly transformed the genre. Fans will surely mob theaters this weekend to see how the trilogy concludes.
David Letterman previously almost let that news slip while interviewing Hathaway on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The host stated, rather than asked, that “in the end, Batman is…”
We’ll spare you the spoiler if you haven’t heard yet.
Find out for yourself. The Dark Knight Rises propels into theaters Friday, July 20th.
