UPDATE: It's official! The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed the news this morning that Anne and James will indeed co-host this year's Oscars!
The Academy tweeted: "OFFICIAL: James Franco & Anne Hathaway to host #Oscars - Tweet them your advice! #OscarsHosts"
The Academy Awards has just announced their maybe hosts for this year! According to Deadline, the Academy has offered hosting duties to both Anne Hathaway and James Franco, and they’ve accepted! Sources say both have been approached, "and it looks like both have accepted the offer."
Apparently there’s still a chance of one of them pulling out, but who would decline this offer?! Anne is an obvious choice because she’s one of the it girls in Hollywood right now. But James Franco surprises me a little! He’s a big star, but not huuuuge like Hathaway.
They’ll probably make a good duo though—Anne can deliver all the serious parts of the show, while James can light up a huge joint prior to the show and just do the jokes for the night.
Is it just me, or does he always look stoned? Anyhow, the insider says "the host announcement could be made as soon as this week."
This could either be great, or be a really big flop—usually the Oscars relies on comedians, like last year with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. Think Anne and James can hold up to past hosts?
