The Latest on the Anna Nicole Smith Tragedy

Reality show star Anna Nicole Smith has been suffering tremendously from the loss of her son and now her tragedy is bringing in some cash. In my opinion this story just can't get worse.

Reps for the 38-year-old Smith and her photo agent, Getty Images have pulled in more than $600,000 for the rights to snapshots of her late son, Daniel. The photos of Anna and her son Daniel in the Bahamian maternity ward alongside the new born before he was found dead on Sept. 10.

We hear that In Touch magazine paid as much as $400,000 for the print exclusive on photos, and the Paramount-produced television shows "Entertainment Tonight" and "The Insider" forked over an estimated $250,000 for the TV exclusive. In Touch won the rights, over People's bid of $350,000. A spokeswoman for In Touch told the Daily News "There is an incredible amount of emotion attached to this story and the photos, and our story will be a tribute to Daniel's life as a well as a celebration of it."

According to sources Anna Nicole has vague plans to use a portion of the money for a Daniel Smith memorial, and it wasn't clear what percentage of the proceeds Getty is taking as commission.

Just when you think the story can't worse. it does. According to the Daily News the freelance photographer Larry Birkhead, who claims to be the father of the newborn, who reportedly named the girl Hannah has used the death of Anna Nicole's son to put some cash in his pocket by cooperating with "E.T." Birkhead, who until now has refused to comment on the death of Daniel Smith , he sat down for a two-part interview with correspondent Victoria Recaño for broadcast last night.

Most of the websites that posted the pictures on the web were told to take them down immediately or they'd be slapped with a lawsuit.

I think its pretty pathetic that these pictures had to be sold by Anna Nicole’s camp. Where do people draw the line at some point? Not everything can be fulfilled with money, but I guess that’s not the case for everyone.
