Coming Soon: Anna Nicole The Musical
February 16, 2009 by: BRIDGET DALY

Britain’s august Royal Opera said they’re planning a show based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith, focusing on her life as a stripper, then to marrying an octogenarian oil tycoon, starring in her own TV show, and then dying of a drug overdose.
The company says the show will have music by respected British composer Mark-Anthony Turnage. The libretto is by Richard Thomas, co-creator of Jerry Springer: The Opera. So we guess this guy has a thing for trashy American culture.
But the company’s director of opera, Elaine Padmore, insists the show “is not going to be tawdry; it is going to be witty, clever, thoughtful and sad.”
She says, “It is not just a documentary about her, but a parable about celebrity and what it does to people.”
Who’s life is next? Britney’s? Sorry, but if we wanted to know more about Anna Nicole’s life story, we’d just stick with E!
