Anna Kournikova. biography
Born on June 7, 1981, in Moscow, Russia, Anna Kournikov ignited her tennis career at the mere age of 9, striving in the juniors prior to traveling to the U.S. to train at Nick Bollettieri’s prestigious tennis academy in Florida. In result, Anna went on to win both the Junior World Championship and Junior European Championship in 1995.
When Anna was 15-years-old, she managed to climb to the fourth round of the U.S. Open and peak at the semi-finals of Wimbledon the following year. She went on to take home two Grand Slam doubles titles with the help of Martina Hingis, but later only made it to the finals four times, without winning, out of 130 single tournaments.
Despite her lack of success on the court, Anna garnered much media attention in part of her beauty, sex appeal and romance with Latin singer Enrique Iglesias as well as hockey star Sergei Fedorov. She appeared on the covers of many magazines including the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition and Maxim.
Aside from tennis and modeling, Anna made her acting debut as a Motel Manager in the comedy Me, Myself & Irene (2000) alongside Jim Carrey.
