Angelina Jolie Visits Haitian Children

Angelina Jolie is always on the go. Yesterday, she was with her family in Miami for the Super Bowl, and today she’s in the Dominican Republic.

According to the AP, Angie is currently in Santo Domingo, which neighbors the devastated nation of Haiti. She’s there visiting with Haitian children who are receiving medical care following the earthquake.

The hospital released a statement saying Jolie took a tour of the pediatric wing of Dario Contreras Hospital in Santo Domingo, a leading local trauma hospital, with its director Hector Quezada.

Jolie, who serves as a goodwill ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF, was also joined by Gonzalo Vargas Llosa, a son of Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa.

This comes after she and Brad Pitt donated a million dollars to Doctors without Borders in Haiti following the January 12th quake. Her dedication to charity is incredible. Most would give money but not travel to the country. Angelina always goes above and beyond her call of duty.

Kevinlisa is correct. Let the professionals do thier jobs. It is chaos over there and the time and resources would be better spent on the people who need the help, not going to security to gaurd the celebs.

Angelina Jolie does more in a day to make this world a better place than the entire staff and readership of Hollyscoop will do in a lifetime. She's touring the hospital because of her position with the UNHCR. It's part of her job.

It's very generous of her and Brad to donate money, but what does she accomplish by touring the hospital? We're all aware of the problem over there and the runways are backed up with planes trying to get supplies to the people who need it. The celebrities need to let the Red Cross and the other groups who are trained for this do their jobs.
