Between this and Vinny’s anxiety attack on Jersey Shore, today's theme is mental illness.
During a video chat with Marie Claire on Thursday, actress-turned-director Angelina Jolie revealed that she had a “complete meltdown” before she started production on her Golden Globe-nominated flick, In the Land of Blood and Honey.
"I had a complete emotional breakdown in the shower and Brad [Pitt] found me crying," Jolie revealed. "I felt this huge responsibility and I felt very small. 'Who am I to take this on?'"
You’re Angelina Jolie, dammit! Get yourself together, woman!
Jolie continued, "I didn't plan to become a director, and I still have trouble saying I'm a director. I just wanted to tell this story and I ended up by default being the director," the Oscar winner said. "It was a pleasure, but I wonder if it would be a pleasure with another cast and crew, and a subject matter that wasn't so special."
I dunno, maybe ask the director of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow?
Alright, cheap shot. I’m not bringing it up to belittle what she’s done, but she’s come a long way. It seems like just yesterday she was mauling her brother’s lips at the Oscars and stealing blood from Billy Bob Thorton. Now, the very first movie she’s directed is up for a Golden Globe.
“I’ve tried to do the best I could,” Jolie said. “And I feel this is a representation of who I am. Most of the films I do are [about] characters that I have fun with, but are not representative of who I am and what I believe.”
