Where do you go after receiving a $250,000 engagement ring? To the jungles of Ecuador, naturally! That is, you do if you’re Angelina Jolie and even your leg has over 47,000 followers on Twitter. (@AngiesRightLeg is a spoof account, not connected to Jolie.)
According to The LA Times, the 36 year-old award-winning actress and director was recently promoted in her tireless gig for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
No longer just a goodwill ambassador, Jolie’s now a special envoy. We’re not sure what that means, but it sounds serious, no?
The busy working mom of six traveled to the Ecuadorian capital, Quito, and met with Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino. She also checked out the status of a refugee settlement in Providencia and shared a walk with farmers taking part in a UNHCR-sponsored agricultural project that will help them become self-sustaining.
But it wasn’t all world leaders, farmers and refugees for the new special envoy. For fun, Jolie and fiancée Brad Pitt, 48, hopped a ferry to the Galapagos Island with their six kids where grateful photographers snapped some photos of Jolie with a pink umbrella and Brad sporting a wetsuit.
(You may remember Galapagos as the location Charles Darwin formed some of his theories of evolution. Then again, you probably skipped class that day.)
