Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight Kiss and Make-Up

Angelina Jolie who has been estranged from her dad since 2002 has revealed that she is trying to work on her relationship with him.

The two stopped talking when Jon Voight said that his daughter had "severe emotional problems" during a TV interview.

During an interview Angie revealed that she has in fact opened up communication with her father.

She tells Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper, "We are going to try to get to know each other and maybe try not to be this daddy and daughter, but to be there for each other as friends in the coming years."

It's kinda weird that she says that she wants to get to know him as friend and not a dad. At the end of the day he is her father. She wouldn't want her kids to have that sort of relationship with Brad when they're older would she? Let's all forgive and move on!

You have obviously believed the liars version of the story. John Voight was indeed around as a father, many pictures of his kids with him prove this. I remember seeing them with him at the Oscars more than once. He was a good dad, even in his disturbed daughters words, until he made a desperate attempt to get help for her by going public about her ongoing mental illness. It must have been heartbreaking for him to do that. I feel for his daughter as well, but her denial of her illness and refusal to get help, as well as cutting her caring dad out of life is very misguided. Mr. Voight has since denied that they have spoken, so more lies from this constantly lying woman. I hope they eventually reconcile while he is still able to meet and enjoy his grandchildren and his daughter.

Yes forgiveness comes with time. So I don't expect her to start calling him "Dad" anytime soon. But she's also a flawed human being who made mistakes, just like her father. Get off the high horse.

Forgiveness comes with time.He did not raise her, so she in fact does not know him as a dad. So, she is absolutly correct in getting to know him as a friend first. My dad did not raise me so I can totally respect where she is coming from. a relationship as a friend with a family member you really don't know is the next best thing.

The bitch is not perfect, she ought to give her dad a break. Otherwise her kids might hold her to her own holier than thou standards when they get older.

I'm sorry Angel, but Jon Voight had nothing to do with Angelina changing her lifestyle. He made those dumb televised comments AFTER Angelina adopted Maddox and filed for divorce from Billy Bob, NOT before. So she doesn't need to count her blessings in regards to her mostly absentee father. It's really not our place to get into the dynamics of her relationship with her father, but I admire her for taking steps toward reconciling with him no matter the context.

What Jon Voight said and did to alienate his daughter was wrong, period. He should be a man and a real father and not a pompous ass and admit his mistakes first if he has not already done so. After hearing the whole story I don't blame her. I think she is showing some good sense and maturity here as well by giving him a chance. You only get one father and one mother and if you are lucky enough to have a relationship with either of them you should value that. I hope they can work it out, I think from what I have seen of Jon Voight ridiculous criticisms of Angelina, alot of this is up to him to mend and for her to tolerate. As long as he is wise enough to see what he did and said wrong, he deserves another chance, he has been through alot of missing his daughter, but again, I don't blame her, I know what it's like..
