Angelina Gets Special Treatment

March 03, 2007

It's no secret that Angelina Jolie has filed paperwork to adopt a Vietnamese boy. And it seems like being a celebrity has its privileges. For Jolie, that means having both U.S. and Vietnamese officials look the other way when it comes to adoption procedure.

She filed for adoption as a single parent even though she lives with boyfriend Brad Pitt, who is the adoptive father of Jolie's son, Maddox, and daughter, Zahara (pictured above), as well as the biological father of their daughter, Shiloh.

The State Department says it abides by Vietnamese rules when it comes to adoptions there. But, "This is a clear contradiction of Vietnamese law, and such situations would not be allowed for other couples," said Tatiana Beams, an international adoption advocate. "Most co-habitating couples who try to adopt as a single parent are either turned away from agencies or face difficulties."

Thank you for pointing out the obvious...She is PHOTOGRAPHED with them...that is her whole agenda afterall the ultimate publicity Photo-op. What a fake. I have to wonder how many kids she will adopt and pretend to mother just to keep her face in the news.

Who cares if she has nannies? I see her photographed more with her kids then any other celebrity out there. The children look very content and happy, even with all of their moves scrutinized by the paparazzi. To all her critics, you don't have to be a celebrity to adopt children in the U.S.

Again, I say it shows the ultimate hypocrisy of these celebs adopting kids from OTHER countries when there are thousands of good kids in orphanages that need both financial and emotional support right HERE in the our country. Wouldn't it send an incredibly great message to all if they used their celebrity status to adopt kids from American broken homes? And they want us to care about Darfur? Hypocrites.

Oh yeah, home study process? Only if she adopts an American child is there a "home study" foreign adoption doesn't require it at all and whoever said she is a "great mother" should be corrected: The Nannies she hired to raise these children are the "Great Mothers" Angelina is merely the employer.

Okay first of all, Angelina's adoption of Maddox WASN'T illegal: She BOUGHT him, refused to make her "promised" payments to the Cambodian Government and Cambodia locked it ALL down. (this is verifiable, by the way, by the associated press-a CREDIBLE info source-for you Angie promoters) So now no one can adopt from Cambodia. Secondly, her Vietnamese adoption is the finest example of "special treatment" I don't care if she is single or not, but the Vietnamese government doesn't allow SINGLE PARENT adoptions-Therefore SHE is recieving SPECIAL TREATMENT. Surprise surprise not only is she a total fake as a humanitarian and a mother but the Angie promoters obviously believe they can ignore the truth by perpetuating their own version....WAKE UP PEOPLE. History accurately reflects the truth all you have to do is READ about it and there are plenty of CREDIBLE sources to choose from...

All celebrities get special treatment. Why should this shock anyone.

Sorry, Monique, I call BS. Angelina's adoption of Maddox was not illegal. They investigated the agency she used but she was cleared of any wrongdoing. I think its great she's giving a home to a child who would otherwise be raised in an orphanage. BTW, if you google the name "Tatiana Beams" you only get a bunch of links where she criticizes celebrity adoptions plus her own website. She's no one's spokesperson.

i'm a camp counselor for adopted cambodian kids and italk to a lot of the familes who had to leave behind related adopted siblings or children that they were waiting to take home that they couldn't because of the bullsh*t w. Angelina's adoption (i.e. ileegal) process...and she doens't give a rat's ass

I adopted from Russia and I am a single parent. She can't adopt any other way, she's not married and can't adopt is declares she's gay. So she is following the rules. Each country is different, not sure about Vietnam's rules about co-habitating.. As far as having an advantage when being single it's actually the other way around . Most countries won't even adopt to singles. I just wish she's spend more time with Shiloh. I have never even seen her hold Shiloh.

I don't understand why she would file for adoption as a single parent as opposed to filing with Brad. Is there some advantage to filing as a single parent?
2:56PM 03/03/07 ANGELINA IS AN ALIEN!!
ALIEN....SHE'S AN ALIEN!!!
2:25PM 03/03/07 Rachel
Who cares if she's getting special treatment or not? Angelina is doing a wonderful thing by opening people's eyes to foreign adoptions. Wherever she goes to adopt others are sure to follow. And besides, she's a great Mom and the kid will be well taken care of.
1:45PM 03/03/07 jenn
Actually, she's not getting special treatment. She can legally file as a single because she is not legally married. She still had to follow all US Immigration procedures, which means that Brad Pitt had to be fingerprinted and interviewed in the Home Study process....

Who care??? Its one more baby out of an orphanage! Yeah for her
