All week we’ve been hearing about the tragic disappearance of actor Andrew Koenig. The former Growing Pains star had been missing since February 14th. According to his family, Andrew had been battling depression.
Now news has just come in via the Vancouver Sun that a body has been found in Stanley Park in Vancouver and it is believed to be his. According to police, the body was found around noon today. The park is reportedly a favorite of the actor’s, and he has lived in the city for three years.
A press conference is scheduled for 5:00 PM PT. Andrew's parents are supposed to attend. More information to follow…
Update: Andrew’s father Walter Koenig just spoke at the conference, addressing the crowd, and said that his son’s friends were the ones who found him today in Stanley Park. He informed the crowd that Andrew did indeed commit suicide, saying, “my son took his own life.”
He tearfully added, “He was a good guy, a good human being, and he was obviously in a lot of pain…” Walter also suggested to others going through depression like his son to try and get help and talk to someone rather than committing suicide. Andrew’s mother also took the microphone and asked that people respect their privacy.
Our thoughts are with Andrew’s family and friends at this time.
