Amy Winehouse's boyfriend Reg Traviss is finally speaking out about his tremendous loss confessing that he feels like he’s been going through “hell” since Saturday.
Reg joined Amy’s parents Mitch and Janice over the weekend in Camden, North London, outside Amy’s house. He visited the shrines created by fans, read all the handwritten notes and spelled the gorgeous flowers fans left behind.
He says he lost his “darling” and described her a “beautiful” person.
He said: "The last three days have been hell. We have suffered a terrible untimely loss and want peace.
"I can't describe what I am going through and I want to thank so much all of the people who have paid their respects and who are mourning the loss of Amy, such a beautiful, brilliant person and my dear love.
"I have lost my darling who I loved very much."
Amy and Reg had been dating on and off for about two years, following her divorce from her ex Blake Fielder-Civil. He said she was starting to cut down on drinking and he was helping her adapt to a healthier lifestyle, but it just wasn’t enough. Years of drug and alcohol abuse finally caught up with her.
He is convinced her death is a tragic "accident" as she was planning to go to a wedding on Sunday with him.
He added in an interview with The Sun newspaper: "She has been so full of life and so upbeat recently, exercising everyday and doing yoga. This terrible thing that happened is like an accident."
Discussing the wedding, he added: "Amy kept trying to decide what to wear. She had laid out dresses to make up her mind, she was really looking forward to it."
Amy was laid to rest today in London. Close friends and family members gathered to say their final goodbye. Final toxicology reports should be in within the next two weeks to determine the official cause of death. Rest in peace Amy, get the peace you deserve.
