Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London apartment. She was only 27.
Amy's spokesman Chris Goodman released a statement, saying: "Everyone who is involved with Amy is shocked and devastated. Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready."
A press release from the Metropolitan Police says: "Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.
"On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained."
This is really sad news. Amy battled with drug addiction for years.
Amy canceled her most recent European tour after being booed on stage at a concert in Serbia. She was struggling to stand on stage let alone sing her songs.
A source said of the performance: "She seemed out of it. She was stumbling about, slurring her words. I was shocked to see her buy vodka so early in the day, and even more shocked to see her knock it straight back."
Amy's 2008 album "Back to Black" and her single "Rehab," got her 5 Grammy Awards including Best Pop Vocal Album, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best New Artist, but she was never able to make a comeback after that album.
