Amy Poehler and Will Arnett End Nine-Year Marriage

Sad, sad news from one of the funniest couples in all the land…

Amy Poehler of “Parks and Rec” and Will Arnett of “Arrested Development” have decided to separate after nine years of marriage together. The news comes as a shock to fans, but sources say that the couple remains on good terms.

Us Weekly broke the story, reporting that a source close to the couple says that the split was “very amicable.” A rep also confirms the news.

The comedy rock star couple married on August 29, 2003. They have two young children together, Archie, 3 and Abel, 2.

This was Poehler’s first marriage and Arnett’s second. He was briefly married to actress Penelope Ann Miller before divorcing in 1995.

"People think we sit around and make each other laugh and stuff," Poehler told USA Today in 2007, emphasizing that off screen they’re pretty normal. "But we're real homebodies."

Amy added, “Will and I spend a lot of time negotiating who's going to walk the dogs. And by walk the dogs, it's a euphemism for running the dogs."

The couple has appeared on screen together a number of times, often portraying man and wife, with quirky and unorthodox couples being their forte. Their joint credits include appearances in Blades of Glory, “Arrested Development,” , On Broadway, and Monsters vs. Aliens.

They have also co-starred in both of their new television projects together, “Parks and Rec,” and “Up All Night.”

Both are nominated for Prime Time Emmy Awards. Amy is up for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series” and “Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series,” while Will is up for “Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series” for his role as the menacing Devon Banks on “30 Rock.”

The Emmy Award ceremonies will air Sunday, September 23.
