Country music is tapping into its funny bone this week.
Scotty McCreery, the “American Idol” Season 10 champ, took a spill during a performance in Bethel, New York, stepping right off the stage. Following the fall, his touring mate, Brad Paisley, poked fun at the rookie with an on stage prank. All the while McCreery shared some friendly but competitive banter with Paisley on Twitter.
First came the fall that McCreery had in the rural New York venue. The slip-up, which happened during his closing performance covering Travis Tritt’s “T-R-O-U-B-L-E,” turned out to be quite a digger.
The 18-year-old singer was walking and singing and ran out of stage under his feet. He went head over heels into the crowd, but luckily was not hurt. He rolled back on the stage and continued singing with a smile on his face.
Later on, he tried to make light of the situation, blaming the whole thing on Brad via Twitter.

He even posted a link to the incident on the video sharing site Telly.com just to show that he had a sense of humor about the whole thing.
But brad was not about to let little McCreery have the last laugh. To squeeze a few more laughs out of the spill, Paisley set up traffic cones and caution tape along the edge of the stage at a later stop just for some extra security.
A little friendly hazing never hurt anything but feelings. Welcome to the big leagues, Scotty!
