Simon and Ellen at Odds on Idol Set

Things haven’t gotten off on the right foot between Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres. According to reports, Ellen became annoyed with the American Idol vet on her very first day of shooting!

According to RadarOnline the two aren’t on speaking terms because Simon showed up late to the taping of the show. “Their relationship started poorly but now the situation has escalated,” says the insider.

Apparently Cowell waltzed into the taping a half an hour late, and that it really annoyed Ellen. Sources also say Cowell’s tardiness has been exaggerated. “He showed up exactly 14 minutes late,” said one person who was there.

Either way, the crew decided to start without him. “People were surprised the show started without Simon,” said one observer.

The show source said the tension between Simon and Ellen was obvious once the cameras stopped rolling. “There’s two camps on the show this season,” said an Idol insider. “It’s a lot more tense than previous seasons. It seems as if Ellen has decided to try to take control since Simon is on his way out and that’s created problems.”

Well, we never thought these two would be good friends—they’re two very different people. As long as they can pull it off on camera, the viewers will be happy!
