Scotty McCreery Wins American Idol Season 10
The people have spoken. Scotty McCreery is your new American Idol. Though let's face it, Lauren Alaina is probably going to get a record deal out of this too.

Hollyscoop talked to McCreery before the show, who told us: "I'm feeling great. This is the final stage of the whole journey."

Lauren struggled to stay in the competition when her voice went out on Tuesday. It might have garnered her some sympathy votes, but in the end, Scotty went home with a record deal and a brand new Ford Focus, which he's barely old enough to drive.

Backstage before the show started, Lauren told Hollyscoop, "I feel better than I did, but I'm still hoarse. I want this more than anything in the world and if Scotty wins I'll be happy for him."

As the show began, Casey Abrams took the stage to sing Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls", and then there was the first of many celebrity sightings of the night: Jack Black! Black joined Abrams, and when they got to the part of the song that says, "get on your bikes and ride", the girls of Idol actually came out riding bikes. How very literal. Thank god he didn't sing "Death on Two Legs". Black told Hollyscoop the secret to a great Idol performance:

"It's about control and the breathe," Black told us. "[Casey] and I are meant to rock together and the planets have aligned for this event ton take place."

The ladies of this season's show also revisited the stage, singing a Beyonce song. And what would a Beyonce song be without…Beyonce? She came out to huge applause and joined the girls.

Scotty joined Tim McGraw to sing "Live Like You Were Dying." Scotty was so good, he almost made Tim look like Gwyneth Paltrow trying to audition for a record deal. Okay, maybe not that bad, but Scotty was good.

Then, America's biggest idol, Lady Gaga, took the stage to sing "The Edge of Glory."

Bono from U2 was in the crowd, with a little promotion for Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark. Hollyscoop talked to Bono, who told us Idol is "probably the only show everyone watches." Now that Oprah's off the air, he's probably right.

Before announcing the winner, a strange looking woman performed an Aerosmith song. It may or may not have been Steven Tyler. Then, finally, it was announced: Scotty McCreery is our latest American Idol.

Lauren might not have gone home the ultimate winner, but she put it best when she told Hollyscoop:

"I come from a small town, and I've come a long way."
