After Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler dropped out of “American Idol,” nobody knew where Randy Jackson stood. Many just lumped him into the whole “Idol exit” fiasco. Some “sources” said he was a part of “old Idol” and was being asked to leave to make way for the new breed of “Idol” judges.
Well, Randy finally broke his silence during his guest hosting stint this morning on “The View” and told the ladies and the studio audience that he is NOT leaving the show. He didn’t discuss it further but simply announced that he was returning and moved on with his hosting gig on the show.
Randy Jackson is the sole lone survivor of the original judges panel. Aside from his producing gig on “American’s Best Dance Crew,” he doesn’t have another career to “go back to” like Lopez and Tyler who have put their music and acting careers on hold for "Idol."
When Tyler and J.Lo quit the show, Randy told Gossip Cop, “Steven and Jennifer are truly two of the most talented and consummate professionals I’ve worked with. I was friends with them before we hopped on this crazy journey together and I have no doubt our friendships will continue long after.”
He then stated, “I will love them for life.”
Geez, they quit your sinking reality show, he’s acting like this is a divorce statement.
Last week, Us Weekly reported that Randy was possibly moving into a mentorship position on the show. Like, a judge’s judge, which still MAY be true, because Randy just said he’s staying on the show. He didn’t specifically say what role.
Only time (and gossip blogs) will tell.
Stay tuned, as we’ll have the scoop when it breaks.
