Man Arrested for Death of American Idol Contestant
A New Jersey man has been arrested in connection with the death of past American Idol contestant Alexis Cohen. 23-year old Daniel Bark has been arrested for an alleged hit-and-run that occurred Friday night in Seaside, New Jersey. He remains on $35,000 bail.

According to the New York Daily News, Bark was taken into custody yesterday on charges of being the cause of Cohen’s death by reckless driving, and for leaving the scene of an accident.

A court hearing has been set for this afternoon at an Ocean County courthouse for an initial hearing in the case.

An autopsy performed on Cohen Saturday afternoon by the office of the Ocean County Medical Examiner found multiple traumatic chest and abdominal injuries, and a closed head injury, says Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. She was pronounced dead at 6:35AM Saturday morning.

Mohel said her death is being classified as a homicide, saying, "There was evidence that her body was impacted by a vehicle.”

Paula Abdul took to her Twitter yesterday to show her condolences to Alexis’ family, writing: “My heart goes out to the family of Alexis Cohen. She showed great courage at #Idol and let's all send our prayers to her family now.”

Ryan Seacrest also spoke about Alexis, adding that she had just auditioned for this current season of Idol, which would make it her third time auditioning for the judges. Ryan tweeted: “My thoughts are with the cohen family. It is such a sad story. She auditioned for the producers for this season and then the terrible news.”

Our thoughts are with Alexis’ family and friends right now.
