It was an exciting and incredibly nerve-wracking Thursday night over at American Idol.
With over 30 million votes cast, Ryan teased that the “outcome of those votes may shock you.” And they did.
The Top 11 started off the night off with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” before Stevie Wonder was randomly wheeled onto the stage, keyboard and all, to perform “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.”
Everyone starting singing Happy Birthday to Steven Tyler and presented him with a birthday cake.
And shortly after it was elimination time. Ryan called Lauren, Pia and Scotty to the stage and said, “The nation has spoken and both of you guys are not safe tonight ... I mean you’re really not safe tonight.”
Jacob was next. Ryan told him he was safe, but Stefano and Thia were in the bottom three. “Interesting night, folks. Make sure you stay with us for the entire show," Ryan told the crowd.
A clearly shaken Casey Abrams voted off by the viewing public. And then he was saved.
"This is crazy wrong," said Steven Tyler. "We made a decision here to keep you on."
"Are you kidding, are you kidding," Casey kept saying over and over, as he ran to the judges' table to thank them. He ran into the audience and hugged his parents, sobbing, "I love you so much!"
"We just want you to get back to being the musician you are," Jennifer Lopez said. "Just let people feel your soul."
Seemed like everything happened so fast, it was hard to keep up. Were you shocked Casey was saved? Who are you rooting for?
