Maybe the viewers are trying to see as much of Simon Cowell as they can before he leaves the show, because American Idol’s numbers were up big time last night!
The episode featured auditions from Chicago, as well as Shania Twain guest judging from the Windy City. The show beat out all other competition last night, with a 16.6 rating/24 share in the overnights at 8PM.
That was a 33% jump from last year’s second week episode, and sources say a show in its 9th season has never had such a feat!
Tonight will feature guest judge Kristen Chenoweth, who clearly knows a thing or two about having a voice good enough for the business. She recently told People how tough it was to sit on the judge’s panel.
“It was harder than I thought because you really do have to look into the faces of people and say yes or no, she said. “I don’t like to be a bummer and hurt anyone’s feelings.”
But, she continues, “I saw some really good talent and hopefully I was an encouragement to some people. There’s always usually one good thing you can say [to people].”
Kristen couldn’t hurt a fly! We’d be psyched to be auditioning for her! Catch Kristen and the judges on Idol tonight at 8PM.
