The nail-biting days of “American Idol” Season 11 are long behind us, which means the finalist are gearing up for round two… The tour.
Jessica Sanchez, Skylar Laine, DeAndre Brackensick, and the rest of the Season 11 gang are all psyched to get back on stage. Hollyscoop caught up with the guys and girls at American Idol Live! Presented by Chips Ahoy! and Ritz press event to talk pranks, friendships, and the cities they are looking forward to the most.
“I’ve never been out of the country and to go to the Philippines, which is half of my heritage, I’m just so excited for that!” Sanchez said. “It’s just going to be so much fun going to my home country.”
The sweetheart singer came in at a close second this season, falling just shy of Phil Phillips. Collectively, the two earned an eye popping 132 votes for the finale, an all time high for the show.
Other contestants are looking forward to stopping by home too, like Westlake, Louisiana native Joshua Ledet.
“I believe that’s gonna be my show because all my family and friends, my hometown people are gonna be there,” he said. “The crowd is gonna be filled with Joshua fans so I can do whatever I want.”
When it comes to the demeanor of the tour, everyone agrees that with judging in the rearview, they can now let loose and enjoy the ride.
“We definitely get a lot more rest and a lot more down time and we’re just being free,” she said.
And then comes the pranks. Even Hee Jun Han himself couldn’t deny that he is the king of the practical jokes in the group. Though, he would much rather prefer to be known as the “party animal and the ladies man.”
Even with the laid-back feel and camaraderie, there’s no denying that drama unfolds behind the scenes. Joshua was quick to admit the other finalists’ tendency to throw his and Hollie Cavanagh’s bond under the bus.
“They’re jealous about me and Hollie’s relationship so they get us in a lot of trouble like we can’t do anything without getting in trouble,” said Joshua. “Literally they snitch on us a lot.”
On board with the drama, rumor has it that Phillips is back on his feet after kidney surgery and plans on tagging along too.
American Idol Live kicks off July 6th in Detroit, Michigan. For more information on the dates, visit the show’s website at ammeicanidol.com.
