You know you’re a good singer when Simon Cowell chooses to stand up and clap rather than run his mouth and dissect your performance.
That was the case on last night’s American Idol. Adam Lambert was the final contestant to perform, which you may or may not have missed due to Tivo! The contestants were required to sing a song from the year they were born. Adam chose the 1982 hit Mad World.
In a stripped-down performance, Adam let his voice shine, proving that he was able to tone down his usual Broadway-esque sound. Don’t get us wrong, we love how he can hit the high notes! It was just nice to see him be able to impress quietly as well.
After his performance, there was only time for Simon to critique. So rather than babble on, he said, “Words are unnecessary, but I want to give you a standing ovation.”
We’re pretty sure that performance will keep Adam safe for a while. And in the event he does find himself on the chopping block, there’s no doubt the judge’s would use their veto power on him.
That said, elimination night is tonight, and one more contestant will go home, leaving 7 left. We’re thinking it’s the end of the road for Scott. Both he and Lil Rounds will probably be in trouble tonight. Who do think is going home? Tune into tonight! And if you missed Adam’s performance, check it out below.
