Britney Spears is currently facing a fresh round of media accusations that claim when she was originally approached to take the judges chair on this season of "The X Factor," she demanded to make more than Jennifer Lopez did on her first season of "American Idol."

Spears is said to have specifically requested to make $20 million, a bit larger sum than the $12 mil JLo scored. Its yet to have been
Hey, did you guys happen to hear that Phillip Phillips won American Idol last night?

The extremely likeable Georgia native’s solid all-American upbringing is apparent every time he opens his mouth –- to speak, or sing. After winning the Idol popular vote, it’s clear this well-rounded champion, who came from humble beginnings

Last night’s “American Idol” episode played out like a series finale of an HBO show. Old cast members returned, there were special guest appearances, and last minute twists in the plot. I’m talking about a wedding proposal, people!

“Idol” alums Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young made their way to the stage as “the first Idol couple.” This didn’t seem totally out of character for the show. After all, they were pulling past contestants, alums, and celebs out of every corner of the Nokia theater that night. Then came the first ever “Idol” wedding proposal.

Now, before you get all worried about how this all played out, I’ll spare you. She said...

Handsome boy next door strapped with a guitar? Exotic diva with a killer set of pipes? The entire nation is abuzz wondering who will be crowned the next American Idol.

The final performance show for Season 11 was, according to Jennifer Lopez, a “battle of opposites.”

Jessica Sanchez, an accomplished singer who prior to AI made her “American” debut on Americas Got Talent, has sung for the NFL and recorded a couple of singles. Her talent has never been in question.
There will be no hero’s homecoming for Hollie Cavanagh on next week’s ‘American Idol’. The 18-year-old British-Texan was cut Thursday night after nearly 70 million votes were cast, keeping Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, and Phillip Phillips in the Top 3.

Cavanagh had originally auditioned for season 10 but didn't make it through to the Top 24. For her farewell song, she sang Miley Cyrus’ “The Climb.”

"Being on the show has given me confidence, and I believe so much more in myself," she explained in her farewell video. "It's perfect."
With only two weeks to go until a winner is chosen, the fight was on Wednesday night for the last three spots on ‘American Idol’ between final four Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh and Phillip Phillips.

In round one, the aspiring Idol’s had to perform a “California Dreamin’” song, as in a song by a California artist or one about the state.

Phillip chose Creedence Clearwater Revival’s "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" Steven Tyler cryptically responded with: "You're living proof that the road to success is always under construction."
Skylar Laine sang her heart out on Wednesday night's “American Idol”, but after 60 million votes were counted, the country singer got the boot Thursday, leaving four contestants remaining.

After finishing her “Idol” run with Miranda Lambert’s “Gunpowder & Lead” as her farewell song, the 18-year old Mississippi native appeared ready to move on. "I'm just really relieved right now," she admitted backstage to People Magazine. "No more stress,” she added with a smile.

An “Americal Idol” episode without Ryan Seacrest? Not on your life!

Yesterday, TMZ reported that sources said Seacrest was so ill with a stomach bug that he had to miss the dress rehearsal. We hope it’s not contagious! Vomiting and singing really don’t mix, I’m sure the audience would agree.

Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe took over Seacrest’s duties for the afternoon and was gamely ready to do the show in case the
Ryan Seacrest just inked a new deal to remain with “American Idol” for the next two years for a reported $15 million a year, keeping his salary on par with his previous earnings, according to Variety.

Not bad for a show that some say is showing its age in the eleventh season, with ratings dipping among viewers in the coveted 18-49 year-old range compared to earlier years.
It’s “Idol” results time folks. And, as promised, last night was shocker.

This week, Colton Dixon was cut from “American Idol,” causing quite a stir. Dixon’s trip to the bottom three was his first, but one was all that was needed to send the singer packing.

Joining Dixon in the bottom three last night were the slightly more predictable Hollie Cavanagh and Elise Testone, who arguably received the worst feedback from her performance Wednesday night.
