Reunion: 17 Years Later and Still 'Clueless'

Let's take a trip down memory lane to the movie that made us either want to be a super model or date one…

Clueless, the film that inspired a new generation of teenage posh and laid the groundwork for movies like Legally Blonde, Mean Girls and even “Sex and the City,” is popping back into headlines.

In a new issue of Entertainment Weekly, the original cast gathered together to reminisce about the film and how the franchise changed themselves and the adolescent nation.

Alicia Silverstone – a.k.a. Cher Horowitz – was joined in the feature spread by Paul Rudd, Amy Heckerling, Dan Hedaya, Jeremy Sisto, Wallace Shawn, Donald Faison, Stacey Dash, Brekin Meyer. Elisa Donovan, Justin Walker and Twink Caplan.

And, even though it’s been a 17 years since Clueless graced the big screen, dressed in their red carpet bests, the cast still looks good.

But despite its mass appeal and warm place in our hearts today, during production, everyone expected little more than a flop from the film.

"When we were making the movie, you don't think the movie's going to be good,” said Faison, known best for his role on “Scrubs.” “You think, I'm making the next License to Drive. You think this movie's going to be just for teenagers and that's it."

Even Silverstone had trouble relating to Cher…

“‘Who is this girl?’” said Silverstone, relaying her first impression of the character. “I had nothing in common with her at all. I thought she was a materialistic, annoying little bitch.”

But the characters and story eventually grew on people when, as Rudd put it, they realized, “this is actually smart.”

Smart, shallow, or somewhere in between, Clueless struck a nerve in America, earning over $56 million in its domestic gross.
