According to Deadline Hollywood, Alice In Wonderland is projected to make $100 million in its opening weekend. That’s huge, and the projection beats Avatar’s debut—the movie made $73 mil in its first box office weekend.
Apparently the numbers from today’s matinee are already impressive and beating Avatar, plus the higher-priced 3D tickets will make a big difference in sales.
The film cost $200 million to make, so making that back in the opening weekend is pretty incredible! Are you going to see Alice this weekend?

Johnny Depp, who has now collaborated with Tim Burton for the seventh time, looks freaky as the Mad Hatter. "This character is off his rocker," producer Richard Zanuck says.
The colorful cast of characters, which includes Anne Hathaway as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, have "been Burton-ized" says Zanuck.

Fans have already begun building their “armys” on Facebook to support The Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter), the White Queen (Anne Hathaway), and the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp). These fan pages are already getting thousands of hits, but the one who gets the most fans by 4PM on July 24th wins the battle, scoring the rights to see the trailer first, before any other fan.
This film won’t be exactly like the cartoon version we all grew up watching. This film combines both of Lewis Caroll’s novels, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, and its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass. That explains some of the new characters!
New-comer Mia Wasikowska takes on the title role of Alice, while some more well known actors accompany her on her fun filled adventure! They include: Crispin Glover and Matt Lucas.
The film will be released on March 5th, 2010. Until then, check out the trailer below...

Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska, best known for her role in HBO's In Treatment, will play Alice. "There is something real, honest and sincere about her," Zanuck says. "She's not a typical Hollywood starlet."
"The book itself is pretty dark," said Zanuck of the Lewis Carroll classic. "This is for little people and people who read it when they were little 50 years ago."
The movie is set to be released on March 5, 2010. Let the countdown begin!

Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway have been cast as the Red and White Queens, respectively. It must be nice being with a director who always puts you in his movies. We wonder if Tim picks his films based on what roles he can see Helena playing. Because he never leaves her out of a cast!
Good thing she’s a great actress! Just to refresh your memory, the White Queen is a benevolent monarch who is deposed and banished by her sister, the Red Queen who has an affinity for crying out, "Off with their heads!" The White Queen needs Alice to slay a creature known as the Bandersnatch. The film is due for release in 2010.

If you are a big fan of the Lewis Carrol's fantasy novel, you know Burton would be the right director to envision this tale onto the big screen.
Reports surfaced today that Burton’s muse Johnny Depp is in talks to star as the Mad Hatter. Although there is no confirmation, we won't be surprised if Depp does sign on.
After all, Depp has starred in six Burton films from "Edward Scissorhands" to "Sweeney Todd." One role that has been already confirmed is Alice, which will be played by an unknown Australian actress Mia Wasikowska.
There is talks that this film could be Burton's best work. The director will be shooting the movie in 3-D and will combine both live and animated characters.
Unfortunately, we all have to wait until March 5, 2010 which is the film's release date. Let the countdown begin!
