Designer Alexander McQueen was finally laid to rest today two weeks after he was found dead in his London apartment.

Crowds of mourners including Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Stella McCartney, attended the private ceremony held at St Paul's Church in Knightsbridge, London.

McQueen was discovered hanging in his closet by his cleaner on the eve of his mother's funeral on February 11.

The fashion world was at a loss when news of his death broke. He'll surely be missed by the millions of fans he gained throughout the years. Rest in peace Lee!
Westminster Coroner's Court in London released a very detailed and graphic report about the recent death of designer Alexander McQueen. According to the coroner, McQueen died of from asphyxiation and hanging.

McQueen hung himself in a wardrobe closet at his Mayfair apartment, leaving a suicide note by his side, reports People magazine. His sister Janet McQueen discovered him.

A rep at the Alexander McQueen fashion house tells People, "There has been no date set for a memorial but we hope to know more shortly," and adds: "It will be very low-key."

Millions of fans and celebrity friends are still mourning his death. Just yesterday Lady Gaga, who was a good friend of McQueen's, dedicated her performance at the BRIT awards to the famed designer. Dressed in head-to-toe white lace, an emotional Gaga said, "And thank you to Lee McQueen."

It's so tragic that he took his own life. He will surely be missed.

Designer Alexander McQueen faced many heartaches in the past few years.

His muse committed suicide three years ago, he lost his beloved mother earlier this month and now we've learned that he was heartbroken over a failed romance.

In an unpublished interview with Australia's Harper's Bazaar magazine, McQueen revealed he was hurting following the breakdown of his relationship with a mystery lover.

McQueen told the publication in January that he was seeing a mystery man and loved him so much he had his named tattooed on his arm--only to be devastated when his lover left him.

He said, "(He was) a b**tard who went back to Australia and I was left looking at his name."

The interview will be published in the magazine's upcoming April (10) issue. So tragic!
Sarah Jessica Parker was heartbroken and devastated when she learned that her good friend Alexander McQueen took his own life.

SJP often wore McQueen on the red carpet and in 'Sex and the City' and for her the carpet won't be the same without him.

"I am shocked and overcome with grief upon learning about the untimely death of the quiet genius Alexander McQueen," she said.

"My heart goes out to his family and all those who worked for and with him."

Of his creations, she says: "Every single inspired, original, lofty, whimsical, stunning, brilliant and jaw dropping detail was Alexander Mcqueen. There has never been anyone like him. And there simply never will be."

"What is more devastating is that despite all his success thus far, creatively, critically and commercially, his greatest achievements lay ahead of him. The future would be whatever he hoped to make of it," she says. "God speed Lee. It has been a privilege for all of us to know you. You will be indescribably missed."

In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing. He not only won over critics and major fashion magazine editors, he also won over the hearts of celebrities.

Supermodel Kate Moss was not only a huge fan of his collection, she was a fan of McQueen himself. And she's absolutely "devastated" over his death.

"Kate is shocked and devastated at the tragic loss of her dear friend Lee McQueen. Her thoughts are with his family at this sad time. We would also ask that Kate's privacy is respected," said a rep for Moss.

Designers Vivienne Westwood and Matthew Williamson also paid tribute. Vivienne was "incredibly sorry" to hear the news, a spokesman said, while fellow designer Matthew commented: "I am shocked and deeply saddened by McQueen's death - he was a genius and his talent was second to none."

He went on: "Like many others, I always cited him as a hugely inspirational leader of world fashion - he will be greatly missed."

McQueen's suicide comes a week after the death of his mother (Feb. 2) and almost three years after style icon, Isabella Blow took her own life. So tragic! Rest in peace Lee, you'll be missed!
