Al Pacino will be honored at this year's Rome Film Festival in October with the Marcus Aurelius Lifetime Achievement Award. The prize will form part of the festival's tribute to the New York Actors Studio, which Pacino is a part of.
He says, "Thank you for bestowing your Marc'Aurelio Acting Award on me. It is a further indication of the homage to the work of the Actors Studio, and I am very honored to receive it."
Last year's recipient was Sofia Loren, and 2006's winner was Sean Connery. Following in the footsteps of Loren and Connery, this year Al Pacino will also participate in a meeting with the Festival public and accredited journalists as part of the L'Altro Cinema section, where he will comment on scenes from films chosen to demonstrate the unmistakable method of identification and subjective research that has been the ever-present hallmark of the Actors Studio style.
