It’s hard to get better than six Grammys, but Adele won two top honors at the Brit Awards in London on Tuesday.
Adele took home the award for Album of the Year (‘21’) and Best Female Solo Artist. That breakup was the best thing that’s ever happened to Adele. I mean, what do you have to show for your breakups? Personally, the most I’ve ever gotten out of a breakup is a bad ‘I’m so over it’ haircut.
The British songstress beat out the likes of Florence and the Machine, Jessie J, Kate Bush and Laura Marling.
Holding back tears, Adele told the audience:
"Thank you very, very much. Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning album of the year. I'm so proud to be British and to be flying the flag. Thank you - I'll see you next time around."
Sssh…don’t talk so much Adele. You need to save those tender vocal chords for your next album.
Coldplay won the British Group Prize, and Bruno Mars was named International Male Solo Artist. Rihanna took the award for International Female Solo Artist. Rihanna told the audience: “To all my fans who continue to support me no matter what, I love you - this is for you. My fans always remind me to be myself and I'll never forget you for that."
Coldplay opened up the event, held at the O2 arena in London. Adele performed ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and Rihanna gave a raunchy performance of ‘We Found Love.’
