Good Morning America Cancels Adam Lambert Performance

Adam Lambert
If you were hoping to catch Adam Lambert performing on Good Morning America tomorrow, you're going to be very disappointed. His scheduled appearance on GMA has apparently been canceled following his controversial performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday.

ABC and its parent company Disney wasn't too fond of Adam's sexual charged and provocative performance at the AMA's, so they axed his performance, which was set for Wednesday morning.

During his racy performance Adam kissed a male dancer, simulated oral sex with another male dancer, led another around on a leash and fondled several of his backup dancers, which brought in over 1,500 complaints to ABC.

But was it necessary to axe his GMA performance? A source at ABC tells Hollyscoop exclusively that ABC gets more complaints from viewers over broadcasts of Dancing with the Stars on a regular basis than Adam's performance got.

So what's the main reason for all this turmoil? Is it because an openly gay singer kissed another male and not a girl?

In a statement an ABC spokesperson said, “Given his controversial American Music Awards performance, we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.”

Lambert fans have been bombarding fan sites, chat rooms and Twitter pages to express their disappointment with ABC for axing his performance, but it looks like CBS is coming to the rescue. They've contacted Lambert to perform on their early show tomorrow.

Regardless of the situation, all this publicity came at the perfect time because Lambert's new album 'For Your Entertainment' was released yesterday. He's going head to head with Rihanna's new album 'Rated R', Lady Gaga's 'The Fame Monster' and Shakira's 'She Wolf.' This kind of controversy may be exactly what he needs to get a jump-start on sales.

Remember in Hollywood there's no such thing as bad publicity! His AMA performance helped rake in big numbers for ABC. It was reported around 14.2 million people watched the program, two million more than last year.

With all this talk about Lambert and his performance what are your thoughts? Is ABC wrong to axe his performance or do you think his performance was too racy for television? Tell us your thoughts in the poll below...

It dosen't matter. CBS's the Early Show were smart enough to pick him up and he's also on Letterman tomorrow night. As if Adam would have done the same type of concert for an early morning talk show. That was chickenshit of ABC. His performance aired right before 11pm not at 8am.

If some woman was doing that it would have been fine! Look at Britney and Madonna! Tongue kisses between women are ok I guess! Get off your double standard high horses people!

NO need for such displays. Not from him, Britney, Madonna or anyone else. if you have talent, that should be enough.

Female performers do thing even more risque on TV all the time. I suspect that the discomfort felt by ABC had more to do with the gender of the participants than anything else.
