Adam Lambert Admits He Got "Carried Away" During AMA's

Adam Lambert had no idea his racy American Music Awards performance would ignite so much controversy.

He was axed from performing on Good Morning America this morning because execs at ABC felt his performance was "inappropriate."

Luckily for him CBS came to the rescue and agreed to have him on their morning show, and of course he was asked about his provocative performance.

"I admit, I did get carried away, but I don't see anything wrong with it," he said on CBS' The Early Show Wednesday. "I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was just to interpret the lyrics to my song and have a good time up there."

He admitted that most of the racy parts in his performance, which included Adam kissing a male dancer, simulating oral sex with another male dancer, leading another around on a leash and fondling several of his backup dancers, was all "impromptu."

"ABC was taken a little by surprise -- and that wasn't my intention," he said. "I wasn't being sneaky." Being on stage, he said, "It got the most of me."

He also said he understands why parents are upset with him, but it wasn't his intention to upset anyone or cause so much chaos. He added that he looked "out in the crowd" and saw some of his favorite pop stars and thought, "'I wanna let loose!' It just kind of got the best of me."

I think there are double standards in our society. Its ok for female pop stars to come out half naked, simulate sex on stage, and gyrate their privates all over the place. I saw shakira on tv and she straddled a stage light and simulated sex with it. Why is that okay for the kids but not Adam Lamberts show. Why is it ok for Madonna and Brittany to french kiss on stage with tounge but its not okay for Adam lambert to do it with another male. Get over your double standards people.

I am certainly not surprised at all the backlash. He is openly gay and that alone is enough to inspire the likes of c list to make hate messages. I feel sorry for people that allow a tv program to incite that kind of hate from someone. It would be understandable if he had raped someone or the like, but??? I say he may have shocked some people, but maybe they are a bit uneducated in the real world outside of their little churchy communities. As for the kids. I say you kind of knew he was a different kind of performer. Maybe its your fault for not putting your children to bed a bit earlier. Grow up or take the results. Many people love him, and anything he does.

I really dont see what the problem is. I think he was right when he said that if it was Lady Gaga or Madonna or Janet that did it it wouldnt be a problem. America has too much of an issue with Gay men and women to look past it being an immoral performance. I think he was ROCKIN it and did a great job. Yeah it had some edge to it but thats what makes it interesting!

One problem with showing this crap is the young people who watch this and thinks that this would be acceptable behavior. These performers need to understand that they are role models to kids. I am not a prude but I am one of the owners of a children's production company and very familiar as to the practices of Hollyweird.

I didn't see the performance but heard enough about it to be able to ascetain that it was immoral. Don't young people know what the word "modesty or class" means. I guess not! Performers like Carrie Underwood are making it big not only because of their talent but because of their decency - something so many young people lack nowadays!

Robbinlea, I total agree with you. ABC has known from the start that Adam is an artist and he performs from his heart. If Good Morning America is that shallow and thinks his appearance is a threat then go ask Taylor Swift. I like her but to them she is safe. Adam is awesome and his music is unique. Look back in the past when Madonna was in the spotlight. Parents had their arms up in the air because she would dress in a way they found to be provocative. People of the world it is called Theator, acting so get over yourselves. Adam Lambert I am a 43yr old mother who is married to a 39yr old man and 2 boys 13 & 16yrs.old and we think you are awesome and we were very pleased with your performance like we have from the beginning. Adam Lambert's gay burlesque song and dance routine was absolutely done in bad taste. Come on, simulating fellatio on stage with a male dancer! That may have gone over well in the gay bath houses of San Fransisco, but it certainly didn't fly on the prime time AMA. He had a golden opportunity in closing out the AMA and he completely disregarded it by shoving his "look at me I'm gay" bit down the throats of viewers. Adam Lambert is extremely talented, he picked the wrong venue to attempt to pull that bit off. I know of many in the gay community that were offended by it. It would of been fine in a concert while on tour, primetime TV, not a chance!
