TV Producer Aaron Spelling Dies At 83

June 24, 2006

It is sad to say that one of the most creative TV producers in history, Aaron Spelling has died. Father of Tori Spelling and the man who created our favorite hit TV shows “Beverly Hills 90210”, “Melrose Place” and “Dynasty” died Friday at his Los Angeles mansion after suffering a stroke on June 18.

Spelling's other hit series included "Love Boat," "Fantasy Island," "Burke's Law," "The Mod Squad," "Starsky and Hutch," "T.J. Hooker," "Matt Houston," "Hart to Hart" and "Hotel." Most recently he produced "7th Heaven" and "Summerland."

During the 1970s and 1980s, Spelling provided series and movies exclusively for ABC and is credited for the network's rise to major status. Jokesters referred to it as "The Aaron Broadcasting Company. "

Spelling had arrived in Hollywood virtually penniless in the early 1950s. By the 1980s, Forbes magazine estimated his wealth at $300 million. Aaron died at age 83 and our prayers go out to his family and friends.

I recently had my grandfather suffer from a stroke thank God he's ok and in rehabiliation. But I can understand how that loss can be very heavy and my heart goes out to the family.

When I look back at all of Aaron Spelling's shows, I remain awestruck. Most dream of producing one hit show in their lifetime and Aaron exceeded that goal time and time again. He is a true Hollywood legend and his legacy won't soon be forgotten
